    Hello,

I’m hoping I’ll be able to get help here. I’ve installed and configured the plugin and apparently it all went fine, however for some reason the transition is not working, please see it here:

Funnily the navigation controls (placed on bottom right) do work.
    Any ideas on this?

    Cheers,
    Paula

    Hi Paula,

When I visit that page, the images seem to transition fine. If you’re looking for a more pronounced effect of one image fading into another, try upping the value for transition_speed (either as a default in the Administration menu, or by adding transition_speed="1000" to the shortcode you’ve inserted (so it looks something like [simple_slideshow transition_speed="1000"]).

    Does this help?

    Thanks,

    Dan

One of the responses in the FAQ (here) suggests solving the problem with this shortcode: [simple_slideshow time=”1000″]. Whereas above it is transition_speed, instead of time. I have tried both, without any success. Thoughts?

    Thanks,
    Steve

    Steve,

That’s a documentation mistake – it should be transition_speed. As for it not working, do you have a demo page where you’ve got the plugin running I can take a look at?

    Thanks,

    Dan

Ah, I see what you mean. Aside from the transitions not working, there are some other bits in there that aren’t doing what they should.

I’ve just pushed out version 1.1 of the plugin, which means it should show up as an available update within an hour or so. Update to that (which also updates the version of Cycle Lite, the plugin that does the magic) and then we’ll take another look at it. I have a hunch this will fix it, but if not, I’ll keep digging.

Well, version 1.1 solved the click-through problem, but not the timing. I’ve lowered it even further to 10 (previously tried both 1000 and 150), on the off chance that the units were actually seconds, rather than ms. But no change. It just doesn’t auto-advance.

Ah, I think I see the problem here – Simple Slideshow doesn’t have an auto-advance feature. It exists in the underlying Cycle plugin, but I haven’t yet gotten around to exposing that to the WordPress plugin; it’s on my to-do list for the next version. Is this (auto-advancing images every X seconds) the functionality you’re looking for?

The transition_speed property is adjusting how long the animation to transition between slides takes – a low number will make it a very fast fade, a high number will make it a very gradual one. But in either case, this fade won’t start until the user clicks “Next” or “Previous”.

OK, I understand. Yes, I was hoping to automate the slideshow. But it’s not urgent. The biggie for me was enabling the click-through to a larger size for each of the images, and that is now working in your vers. 1.1. So don’t rush the other on my account. Thanks.

Auto-advance will be in 1.2, which should be out within a week or so.
