Support » Plugin: Gutenberg » No. I will leave WordPress behind after many years if this is forced on us.

  • First of all, this is nowhere near ready to be implemented as a core function of WordPress. Buggy as heck and next to impossible to use.

Secondly, it is missing vital styling and formatting features, and is not able to do vital things I need it to do. Even if you fix all the bugs, I still don’t want it.

I use TinyMCE and it does EXACTLY what I need it to do. Why would you take that away from us? It is not your place to force design concepts on us.

  • so if you miss all these “vital styling and formatting features”, why don’t you elaborate what it exactly is you’re missing? Cause at this point you’re adding nothing to make Gutenberg better, you’re just threatening to leave.

Do you know why WordPress is so amazing? Because of countless people adding their skills and opinion, which in the end only makes WP better. Just saying you miss something won’t help. At all.

I try not to reply much to these Gutenberg reviews, although some of them are very informative and helpful.

I’m replying to this one as someone who reviews the reviews: before you leave the community for good you may want to correct the stars on your review. It defaults to 5 (because we’re a sunny and optimistic community) but you obviously did not mean that.

Try this link, you can correct the stars using this.

Also I’ve removed a tag from this review as name calling will get people into real trouble here.

As stated many times, if you want to keep using TinyMCE, you have that option:

It’s not really an answer though is it? As soon as TinyMCE loses focus, any chance of future development/improvement of it will be lost. WordPress then becomes a poor relation of WIX at al and its uniqueness and intuitiveness lost forever.

The community’s verdict on Gutenberg became clear on day one when it was barely scraping 2 out of 5. That view was arrogantly ignored. Now they will delude themselves that the community’s positivity is increasing when, in reality, detractors will see they have been ignored and stop bothering to respond. Those that are left to judge it are the tiny minority who thought it was a good idea in the first place.

So I agree with KingDingbat and I’m already starting the transition away from WordPress.

@ravenlincs Gutenberg is built on top of TinyMCE. That isn’t going anywhere for quite a long time.

When I read responses like that I am forced to wonder whether the WordPress evangelists actually have any ears, whether they deliberately block them up or whether there is simply nothing between them.

Ravenlincs, that is what I would call abusive rhetoric. You have every opportunity to communicate what you need and want in conjunction with the changes that are certainly coming.

Don’t worry. It won’t be long before a member of the WordPress thought police comes along and deletes it.

Oh look they wrote a little algorithm to do just that.

@ravenlincs It’s not an algorithm. Your account is flagged for abuse.

    https://wordpress.org/support/guidelines/#being-mod-watched-or-banned

That means everything you post here needs to be approved and yes, your less than useful abusive comments have been archived.

I tried not to call you out here.

    https://wordpress.org/support/topic/been-getting-a-lot-of-hate-for-a-recent-glitch/#post-10797892

But I did mean your account. I’m not talking about the comments that were approved, you know what I mean.

If you want to contribute, please do. But keep it civil. Your account will remain flagged until you demonstrate that you do not need moderation.

Again and NOTE! This response of mine has nothing to do with Gutenberg but the replies were archived because they had nothing to do with this review.

Reviews are not an invitation for you to display your unpleasantness (yeah, that’s a euphemism). Keep it on point when you reply to someone else’s review.

@ravenlincs Nazi references in your now archived reply? Congratulations, your account is now banned.

For everyone else, as this review has well and truly gone off topic I am closing it.
