The microdata within this plugin is perfect for any local business website. It establishes location and description of your website to all search engines for localized search keywords.

I am a Systems and Network Programmer and founded the Microdata Project to help others understand and use the complexity of microdata. I was tired of seeing companies who had the money to afford to hire people like myself push out of the way small businesses who could not.

Seo and microdata are becoming more and more complicated, it is my goal to make it simple. I hope you enjoy the plugin and don’t listen to the negative people, try it out for yourself and watch your impressions shoot right up.

If you ever have any question all of our contact information is on the options page of the plugin or can be found here Microdata Project

NOTE: I’m not trying to wind you up but I have a concern about this review and your reply.

I wanted to write a review of this plugin due to the review that was previously written by tcolling giving one star saying there was hidden content.

That’s not really appropriate to use a new review to reply to another negative review. I mean, do you really think a 5 star review from the author of a plugin will change anyone’s mind?

Also? There’s hidden content when you enable the “seeks” option and it is legitimate to ask about it. See below.

The content that he stated was hidden was in fact seeks microdata which is a demand call to the search engine.

That’s not the content I’m asking about in that same review. πŸ˜‰

Can you please take a moment and reply to this comment I’ve just left in that other review?

I’m looking for an answer about how you can justify a hidden back link to your site. Back links are different than putting in a HTML comment (which is fine BTW).

As it’s not a link that is enabled by default you are not violating the terms here. But you are awfully close as you do not disclose that hidden back link. That’s not cool and could be a problem.

P.S tcolling: I find it amazing that we updated the plugin to suit you yet you did not change the review rank of the plugin. Do you plugin bash for a living?

I find it amazing that that’s the way you ask. You’re representing your work and your reply to his reaction was pretty much off point.

    My reactions:
    1. I don’t know what “seeks” are, but I don’t understand how ads for YOUR business will help MY search results rankings.
    2. What else is in the plugin that is a hidden benefit to you and your company?

As I’ve said above that is a legitimate question that you have not really addressed.

It is our goal to make Seo as easy as possible for others.

To answer the questions which I believe I already addressed:

    1. I don’t know what “seeks” are, but I don’t understand how ads for YOUR business will help MY search results rankings.

    A. Seeks sets a demand which I did pointed out and address. If you do not seek Seo for your site then there is no need to use it hence the ability to turn it on/off. In future releases you will be able to place your own seeks or use our default, because so many people do not understand what seeks are and adding the wrong seeks can hurt your seo we set this ourselves. ( Thank you for helping with this. )

    2. What else is in the plugin that is a hidden benefit to you and your company?

    A. There is no hidden code. The code is GNU public license, open source and free. This is not C, C##, or Java where the source is compiled, its php. Look at the code yourself, there is no benefit in any way to my project unless you wish to donate.

Its amazing that people can actually do things for free to help others with no actually benefit except gratitude and recognition. I guess not good deed goes unpunished.

Your welcome! And I like your enthusiasm! It’s refreshing. I really mean that. πŸ˜‰

    A. There is no hidden code.

Your plugin has “SEO” in it’s name and I am 100% sure you know exactly what I am referring to. That’s what you have not addressed that at all.

    From my other post:

I’m glad it’s disabled by default (if it was not I’m pretty sure it would violate the guidlines here) but why do you need to include this in your “seeks”?

    <a itemprop="url" href="" class="visuallyhidden"><span itemprop="name">Seo</span></a>

That’s the part that I think people would have a problem with. I would if I used your plugin. πŸ˜‰

    Can you explain that?

See that link to You can’t miss it.

It has nothing to do with microdata but does promote a backlink to your other forum account’s web site.

I’m asking for the 2nd time now, can you explain why that is there? Aside from promoting your site?

That is not an HTML comment, that’s an honest to goodness link to your site and your plugin does not disclose that turning on “seeks” embeds that unwanted link.

Thank you again, way ahead of you.

Updated Version 0.1.9 with more options and descriptions of seeks and member.

Unfortunately loads of questions and options that can make a plugin ineffective or to complicated to use. We are trying to stay away from that as much as possible.

I hope this helps the plug over all, we are planning to write a compete breakdown of microdata from the project on our website Microdata Project.

Due to the age of microdata and how it works in a cross domain sharing data storage. Our experience has show that using a seeks for instance, if you are trying to rank your site, applying an Seo company will yield better results than most tested company types. Also the website must have extensive microdata to yield positive results.

Currently, most Seo companies and people do not know this and I thought several times before sharing. We included the sameAs in our plugin, setting this to the highest rank url in the keyword search you are targeting will move you up quickly, because what its telling the search engine is, this domain is the same as that one, and then begins to share microdata.

So you see setting seeks to Seo and a domain that has microdata, will associate your domain with one that has high ranks regardless of content matching. Its microdata sharing without matching content utilizing basic rank algorithms.

Hope this makes sense as its my last attempt at explaining this. Thank you again… New versions coming soon with ability to individual post/pages locations, reviews, products, services.

Ha. You really are not going to answer my question are you? Ok then.

The 0.1.9 version still maintains the needless backlink to your site and your paragraphs above really does nothing to explain why you think it’s alright to sneak in that hidden link.

You do write reasonably well though if not at length. πŸ˜‰

Take a look at the detailed plugin guidelines.

I’m fond of section 10 myself.

    10. The plugin must not embed external links on the public site (like a “powered by” link) without explicitly asking the user’s permission. Any such options in the plugin must default to NOT show the link.

I’ve added emphasis on the part I mean.

When users turn on the “seeks” you embed a hidden link to your site. Not just your microdata site but to the where you sell your services.

It’s a link, not an HTML comment and it does nothing for the end user. But it does give you more backlink juice.

That’s Just Not Cool Manβ„’ and I’ve pinged the plugin team regarding your plugin’s behavior.

    Your welcome…

Unreal, I wish I could offer two types of plugins here, one that is fast, easy and effective, and one you want me to make.

With that said just to get rid of you and your partner, I updated the plugin to 0.2.0, it no longer includes a default seeks or member. Good luck in your next venture.

@christopherdubeau, Please note that Jan is a volunteer forum moderator and is in no way affiliated with the original user that posted a bad review.

After reading through both reviews, and the other emails you sent us to the plugins@ account, I think I have an understanding of why your backlink is there.

Basically you are claiming that by adding the backlink to your site, you are boosting the SEO strength of the user’s site due to the SEO strength of your own site. You are indicating that the site has “demand” because it is linked to from a strong site.

If that is incorrect feel free to tell me.

The problem is very simple: no matter what the purpose of the backlink, it absolutely cannot be added to the user’s site without their explicit permission.

You sent us an email asking how best to accomplish this and the proposal you made works perfectly fine: simply add a checkbox to the plugin settings (must be OFF by default) that allows users to opt into adding the backlink.

Thank you for taking the time to review everything and getting back to me. We updated the plugin to version 0.2.1 and added the default options to the plug in per your recommendation of my proposal.

Hi – I’ve revised my review. I don’t think I need to add anything else here.

What is the difference between this plugin and local seo by yoast?

Is it useful to use both plugins at the same time?
