    Hi,

    I’m setting up my blog and I created a page with the mailchimp form using the MailChimp List Subscribe Form plug-in.

    When I submit, the submit button is not responsive, doesn’t display alerts, doesn’t redirect…

    1. If I leave the email address field blank and submit, it doesn’t display an error alert;
    2. If I enter an email that’s already in the list, it doesn’t display any alert either;
    3. If I enter an email that wasn’t in the list, it doesn’t display (or redirect to) any success page, BUT I do receive a “Please Confirm Subscription” on that email address.

    Anything I’m doing wrong? From mailchimp and from the plug-in everything seems fine.

    URL of wordpress page with form: http://blog.emanuelesiracusa.com/newsletter/

    Thanks for your help.

  • Hi there esiracusa,

    Thanks for posting! It’s definitely strange that the error/success responses aren’t showing up as expected on your site. I have a feeling this has something to do with how the Javascript may be interacting with other scripts present on the page.

    There was a similar issue recently in another thread, and ultimately I did end up recommending the use of the embed form code (which can be grabbed directly within MailChimp): https://wordpress.org/support/topic/subscribe-button-not-working-3?replies=8

    Could you tell me if the “Use Javascript Support?” option under “List Options” on the plugin settings page is checked or unchecked? With that info I’ll have a bit more insight and be able to do some more testing to try to pin-point what is going on to cause the response messages to not appear when the form is submitted.

    Hi Kath,
    Thanks for your reply. Yes, the Javascript support is enabled. If I tick it off, the button becomes responsive, but the messages are displayed in a new kind of blank page with no styling (not ideal).
    Thanks for any help.
    Emanuele.

    Hey Emanuele,

    Sorry to hear that disabling the Javascript support doesn’t make thing much better. In this case I’d definitely recommend using an embed form code rather than the plugin widget.

    There is much more complex script at play when using the widget from the plugin, which definitely increases the odds of conflicts like what we’re seeing here now. The embed form would be a sleeker option with less likelihood of conflict in the scripts it runs.

    thank you for your reply – embed code is perhaps the best option. Will sort this out this way.
