    I’ve just installed Powerpress plugin and created my first post.
    I had to use the shortcode to show the player due to an issue with my theme – but on the post page, everything works as expected – see here:-

    First episode post

    BUT – when I tried to submit to iTunes, it says “No episodes exist in your feed”

    Feed url is here

    I’ve checked it in castfeedvalidator and again, no episodes are showing up

    Any help is greatly appreciated!

    The same error occurs when I try to sign up for the free blubrry stats package – it also says that no episodes exist?

    Just for clarification, I the post I created for the podcast is a “Portfolio” type post as I do not want this to appear in my blog post content. I did not foresee this being an issue as the PowerPress section appears at the bottom of the post when I create it and I validated the file was accessible in the widget – the shortcode that I used to display the media player is simply the most basic shortcode of [powerpress] without any arguments and that plays the correct podcast file without any problems which I assume is therefore getting the information from what I entered into the widget at the bottom of the post page – so something is preventing the widget from updating the RSS feed – thoughts?

    You are using a custom post type.

    To assign that post type to the default podcast channel, enable “custom podcast channels” in PowerPress (checkbox at the bottom of the settings page)

    Then go to the “podcast channels” menu item under PowerPress and edit the Default (podcast) channel. Click on the “other settings” tab and pull down the post type to your portfolio post type. Save changes.

    This *should* assign the post type to the main podcast channel.

    Hi Mike

    Many thanks for your response – I’ve tried what you suggested but annoyingly, the portfolio post type does not appear in the dropdown under other settings – I’ve been reading through Blubrry documentation and it looks like I’ll either have to create a new custom post type (which hopefully will then appear in the list) or I will have to re-post as a blog entry and figure out how to stop podcasts from triggering automated emails out to subscribers 🙁

    Interestingly, when I went to the “Custom Podcast Channel” setting, the current default channel displays as having 1 episode – which is correct – so I am confused as to why it’s not made it into the feed

    Hello @plzlook,

    It is important with the approach Mike told you “use Podcast Channels” that you DO NOT have “Post Type podcasting” enabled as well. If you have post type podcasting enabled it overrides the podcast channel option.

    Post types need to have specific attributes to show up in the list of post types in PowerPress podcast channels other settings tab. The post type needs to be registered with the following attributes:

    hierarchical = false
    capability_type = post
    rewrite = true
    has_archive = true or “unique slug name”

    If any one of these settings is not set correctly, WordPress will not allocate a feed for it or be map-able in permalink URLs.

    Thanks,
    Angelo

    YESSSSSS!!!!!

    Thank you both for your answers – I have successfully managed to:-

    Create a custom post type (using the Custom Post Type UI plugin) AND …..

    Using your instructions and warnings above have managed to configure PowerPress to use this as the default category – the RSS feed is now working as designed and the first episode is pending review on iTunes.

    Cheers!
