In the P2 theme video controls are not showing up. They're just white blobs. See image below.

Running WordPress: 3.6.1
P2 Theme: 1.5.1
Browser: Chrome

How are you embedding the video, and what type of video is it?

The code looks like this (with domain and filename changed):

The video plays fine but the the video controls just appear as white blobs in both minimized and full-screen mode. The video is an .mp4 video.

Looks the same in Chrome, Firefox, Safari on Mac. All the latest versions. The mouseovers have the correct names for the buttons.

Just did a test and the controls show-up as the placeholder image loads but once it loads the buttons/controls turn white. I even put some paragraph breaks below the video code just in case it was bumping into something else but it still has the problem.

When it's loading it looks like

Try to put the link to your MP4 file on its own line. This should auto-embed the video, perhaps it'll work better. Like this:

Works for me.

Okay, just tried that and I get the same results. Without the parameter code the video is the full P2 post width but controls are still blobbed for some strange reason.

That is weird indeed. Have you got any plugins active that may interfere? Anything like a HTML 5 video player?

No video player plugins. Here's a list of the active plugins:

I disabled Hide Admin Bar to see if that was the culprit but got the same results.

None of them should impact on your site to display videos indeed. Very strange. I've just tested it with an MP4 video and all controls show up fine in Safari on Mac:

Here's what I would do:

- disable all plugins, check how that looks
- with disabled plugins, upload the MP4 again and check the results
- re-install P2 and check again
- if there's still no improvement, install WordPress again

Good luck!

This is really vexing.
I disable all plugins, cleared browser caches, still blobs for controls.
Re-uploaded mp4, same blobs.
Reinstalled P2, same blobs.
Used the re-install button for WP, still blobs.
Switched to Twenty-Thirteen theme, normal video controls.

Something about P2 isn't working right.

Just wanted to let you know that I've spotted the problem on my test site too - and it seems to be really random. In the middle of the session, after a few browser refreshes and unrelated CSS tweaks, the problem occurred. Out of nowhere.

Then the next moment everything was back to normal. Sometime later, the controls were white blobs again. This happens consistently on Safari and Firefox - for seemingly no apparent reason. It's not a browser issue. Embedded YouTube are not affected, only MP4 embeds.

I will keep my eyes peeled and see if any particular condition triggers this behaviour.
