Hi Raj,
That’s not unexpected, the plugin doesn’t handle that part; snippets are most likely added by your theme. Which one are you using?
I also think the same but the snippet is complete in all other post types except for the WPMovieLibrary.
I am using the Cutomizr wordpress theme.
Could it be that I entered less than 100 words in the post now that WP Movie Lib is doing most of the work?
hi, I noticed the same.
what about take, for example the first 156 chars from movie overview and place it into the excerpt?
yoast seo automatically handles the excerpt and places it into the rendered page.
Actually there’s an option in the Settings panel that does just this, replace movie excerpts with the overview; not sure how it interacts with with the themes and plugins that use Google snippet, though… That’s not really something the plugin can control, in the end the theme does pretty much what it wants, not matter how we try to make data available…
Well that sucks as I have already enabled the “Replace movie excerpts with the overview”. I guess we’ll have to wait for the WPMovieLibrary to be compatible with the normal post types.
Great plugin anyways.
Charilie, I’ve enabled that feature, however, the excerpt field is empty.
Hi area97,
I had the same problem. Here’s what worked for me: Reset all settings to default, empty the page cache, Enable the “Replace movie excerpts with the overview” and save it.
If it still doesn’t work, switch to another theme and repeat the process. Hope this helps.
Raj Sandhu.
thank you Raj, I’ll give it a try.
however, I found that Greg’s High Performance SEO plugin, grabs every text from any post/page and compile the meta description.
so, you confirm me that the post excerpt then populates with overview?
thanks.
sorry, wrong plugin. I had too much installed… this is the right one
https://wordpress.org/plugins/auto-teaser/
I solved the description problem, however the excerpt is still not compiled. when outputting the movie no text is displayed. :/
For the record, the plugin doesn’t actually replace the excerpt; the replacement is made when querying an excerpt using the_excerpt()
and similar functions. If a plugin interferes with this, or the theme doesn’t use the_excerpt()
/get_the_excerpt()
as it should, the excerpt will not contain the overview.
yep! clear to me. I’ve tested few themes and I’ve seen that some displays and others don’t. very disappointed about this, I’ve tried 2 different commercial themes with thousand of users and both have same problem. opened a ticket, let’s see what happens now.
thanks for your reply.
btw: this is by far the best movie plugin/script what da hell I’ve tested i years! it’s the first that really works and it does it simply out of the box. great job Charlie!
Thanks area97, means a lot!
That’s maybe one the worst problem with WordPress themes, especially the premium ones: you can never be sure how bad is the coding and to what extend the developers respected the WordPress guidelines… I’ve bumped into a huge number of themes looking awesome on frontend, but with absolutely terrible coding backstage, making some plugin completely useless :-\
The “Replace movie excerpts with the overview” works perfectly with Customizr theme and fixed the problem.
Thanks.
