# No Comment Response Emails

 * For some reason, we’re no longer getting comment moderation or response emails
   at GEAR.com on comments to posts. If you were me, what would be the first thing
   you’d check?
 * I know that the system can access sendmail as new user registration emails are
   being sent. So, I’m thinking some config may have changed somewhere.
 * WP 2.8.4

 * If that didn’t work, I’d deactivate **all** plugins to see if this resolved the
   problem. If it worked, I’d re-activate the plugins one by one until I found the
   problematic plugin(s).
 * I’d also try switching to the default theme to rule out any theme-related problems.
 * And you **really** need to upgrade to 2.9.1 if you want to minimise your risk
   of being hacked.

 * Yeah… we do need to upgrade. I think we can make that happen.
 * The old standby of deactivating plugins and checking for the culprit sounds like
   it might be the trick.
