No Author Links/Cannot Edit Author Page

    Hello,

    I’ve recently started using wordpress, and I’m trying to set up a multi-author site. I’ve run into 2 issues.

    1) No author links. On the main page and in the blog posts, the author name does not link anywhere. I have put test URLs in the user profile section, but it doesn’t seem to do anything. How can I make each author name a link to a dedicated page? (all documentation I see around this is people asking how to remove author links, so it seems like it should be out-of-box…)

    If there needs to be some code added, please give me instructions in the most basic possible way possible. For example, I’m unsure how to even access the code. All editing has been done with Elementor so far.

    2) If I go to thederringer.com/author/test2 (test2 is an author name), it brings me to an author page that I did not design. I see nowhere in wordpress to customize this page, and while I want an authors page, I want to be able to control it’s contents. How can I edit this page, or remove this page and replace it?

    1) This is determined by the theme. There are core WordPress functions to use, but the theme has to use them.

    2) The author page is not a Page like you can edit. It is a list of posts by that author. WordPress has many “pages” that are lists of posts of various sorts: date archives (posts of one month or one year or one day), author archives, category archives, tag archives, search (which can contain all post types), post type archives.
    If you create a Page with the same slug, it will have a number added to it so that it is unique.
