Help! After a changed some security settings in the plugin Wishlist Member. I cannot login in my admin-panel anymore. I can still reach my website, but when I want to login it says it has ‘too much redirections’.

I deleted the Wishlist plugin by FTP but it didn’t help.
It would be great if someone can help me out with this!

  • Did the plugin modify the htaccess file? Make a backup of the .htacces file and then delete it, then try again.

With the plugin deleted the only thing I can think of is that it modified files of sorts when it was installed.

    Hi, thanks for your comment!

It’s not working with the htacces file. But I still think it has something to do with it.
    The htacces file says

    # BEGIN WishList Member Folder Protection
    Options FollowSymLinks
    RewriteEngine on
    #RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} ^wp-content/*
    RewriteRule ^(.*)$ /index.php?wlmfolder=wp-content&restoffolder=$1 [L]
    # END WishList Member Folder Protection

We know know that the plugin did modify at least one file. Did it modify the wp-config.php file at all?

I don’t think so. The modified date is form june (if that is what your question is). I’m sorry, it is still all a bit new.

I just posted my question at the Wishlist Plugin support team. Hope they can help me out as well!

Not a problem. The support team should be able to help. When you do find out what did it, please be sure to post the solution here and mark resolved so that this post could help someone else..

Problem solved. Wishlist helped me out!

“We have discovered an issue with the WishList Member Folder protection in the recently released WishList Member 2.9 that can result in the entire site being protected by creating .htaccess for the following folders:
    wp-includes
    wp-content
    wp-admin
This can happen if the parent of the protected folder is empty and the site admin turns Folder Protection ON in the WishList Member settings.
This issue can be resolved by deleting the .htaccess in the above folders through FTP and then upgrading to latest WishList Member 2.9 pre-release”

Don’t forget to fully back-up your site!

    Thanks for posting the resolution.
