Tested with buddypress 1.8. It works nicely
I just wonder if this plugin use the default wp thumbnail function to avoid excessive recropping by resizing the post’s featured image (for example)…

Thanks. It uses timthumb (http://www.binarymoon.co.uk/projects/timthumb/) for the thumbnail resizing. This crops the images on request per widget settings and caches them in the plugin folder. I’m considering switching to the default function for a future 2.0 release though.
