Paid for the plugin…doesn’t work half of the time. Constantly having to clear the cache…even then it may not work.

hi @horizon70s,
thanks for using Instagram WD plugin,Did you ask in support forum before writing negative review ? π
Here are some typical points from the results of Google Page Speed Insights test.
Should Fix:
-
Optimize images:
Compressing and resizing https://scontent.cdninstagram.com/β¦70751136519202_3405052803868000256_n.jpg could save 60.2KiB (75% reduction)
Unfortunately Instagram API returns uncompressed images. Note that it is not our plugin’s fault and we cannot fix it.
If images of Instagram feed displayed in frontend are thumbs, you can set an option to request small size images (but still uncompressed π ) from Instagram API (instead of 640px). SetWindow width breakpoint for small size media
params value in Feed Settings to larger value. Please see its description for help.-
Enable compression and Minify JavaScript: Here cache plugin can help. This is not Instagram’s issue, but general issue. Minify and compress JS and CSS files in frontend.
-
Eliminate render-blocking JavaScript and CSS in above-the-fold content: Instagram WD plugin should not have any issues with this points.
General recommendations.
-
Instagram Feed Plugin requests media from Instagram API, which returns them by groups of 20 images/videos. Do not show a lot of images from the beginning. You can tune
Number of Photos to Display
andNumber of Photos to Load
parameters in feed settings to load only minimal number of images from the beginning and then the rest if needed.- If you use custom filters (PRO), please make sure that filter condition occurs often. For example do not request 200 images from Instagram to filter and display only 5 at the end.
Please provide the link of webpage with Instagram Feed, so that we can check what is going on.
If you need any further help, we are more than happy to provide it.-

The site is currently scoring a 62 on Desktop. Not good, but I’ve been working on it.
When I added the plugin, just now, it dropped to a 36 instantly.
Anything you suggest to make the plugin work efficiently, I’m all ears. π
FYI – I changed the settings to load 16 images instead of 20, and to load 4 (increased my page speed by 3)

Optimize images. since the thumbs on frontpage are smaller than 320px, use this option:
Window width breakpoint for small size media = 2400
to load small thumbs with 320px size instead of 640px.https://gyazo.com/0243e96fc67aed6882612e8802d52a5c
Eliminate render-blocking JavaScript and CSS in above-the-fold content
This is general issue, not related with Instagram. Use cache plugin.-

Thanks for looking into it.
We are using a caching plugin.
Yes, but JS and CSS files are not minified, merged and loaded in footer. They are loaded in head tag with many HTML requests. You may turn on this option in cache plugin.
As for the review, please reconsider your rating taking into account that there is no bug or defect in Instagram plugin’s design causing low page insights score.
Also WebDorado is always ready to provide support for its products, both pro and free versions. Thanks.
