Support » Plugin: WordPress Word Count and Limit » Nice plugin

  • works well, and counts accuratetly the characters/words
    the only thing I’d have liked is an option to validate an article even if the set limit is overcome.

    Hello,

    Thanks for your kind review. I’m nt sure I understood what you wanted to say with validate…
    I just released the 1.2.1 version in wich you can save a post (but not publish it) even if you have reached the max characters count. 😉

    Oh well that’s better:)
    But I would need 2 things:
    – Have an option to force the publication anyway (maybe only usable by admin and/or editor users)
    – Be able to customize the limit based on the article type (based on categories). That would be very useful because certain type of texts will require a different max length of content.
    Thanks!

    OK, I see what you mean.
    Maybe in the next release 😉

    That would be amazing. And I’ll immediately add the 5th star 😉
    Cheers!

    I tried a little hack myself to force the publication, by commenting the very last function “Function to avoid post save if characters limit is reached”

    and also, just before that:

    /* Refuse saving if too many characters only for the defined users
                    e.preventDefault();
                    alert('$w_message'); */
    /* Message for contributor
                   alert('$c_message'); */

    It seems to work. Can you confirm that it’s ok this way?

    And now I’ll be working on a way to customize the limit according to categories, but I have a hard time;)

    PS: je crois que tu es Français comme moi, mais pour l’intérêt des autres utilisateurs, je laisse notre conversation en anglais 🙂
