    Hi guys,

I already was opened ticket related to an SEO issue and compatibility with Yoast SEO plugin, but you closed it without actions. The old ticket:

The first Support post you said that it’s not your related issue, but it looks like that it is what cause SEO issues for many sites who are using your plugin. You should make way higher attention on these issues.

    The original post:
I noticed that something is not working right with NGG_TAG pages + Yoast SEO plugin v7.

    1. The problem is that NGG_tag pages are still indexable after changing the settings under “Search Appearance – Yoast SEO” -> “Picture tag (ngg_tag)” -> “Show Picture tag in search results?” setting to No. But changing these setting, the tag pages were at least removed from the sitemap.xml file. Looking at the tag page source code, there are no robots meta tags.

    2. If I am visiting and editing page. In this page, changing settings for: “Allow search engines to show this Picture tag in search results?” but this doesn’t change anything.

The issue appears on 3 different websites. Submitted the issue description to Yoast SEO team as well.

    More info:
The Yoast SEO support post where you will find all the necessary information to update your plugin and make it compactable with one of the most used SEO plugin:
On that post, you can contact with stodorovic user who is Yoast SEO contributor and could help you make the NGG plugin more SEO friendly and compactable with the Yoast SEO plugin.

    Hi @gintsg

We’d like to take a closer look at this indexation problem. We may need to temporarily deactivate plugins and switch the theme while troubleshooting. Would you feel OK with that? If so, please send us a bug report here: , refer back to this forum thread and let them know Mihai referred you. 🙂

I’m Saša – Yoast SEO contributor. I see few issues and I’m trying to fix them. For now, I’ve created Yoast SEO PR #11687 which partially fixes this issue. Main issue is that Yoast SEO recognizes custom taxonomy as page (because NGG sets is_page/is_singular to true). This PR replaces is_singular with our wrapper – is_simple_page and it’s possible to we skip this conditional and Yoast SEO could use settings for custom taxonomy. From other side, there are more issues as canonical URL,…

I’d like that some developer join on (and other issues related to NGG) and we together could create better integration between Yoast SEO and NextGEN Gallery if you are interesting for something like this.

We were able to find that NextGen Gallery version 3.1.6 fixed this issue. I am going to mark this thread as resolved to close it.
