 * NGG uses HTTP (instead of HTTPS) image links in its thumbnail gallery. This causes
   an insecure content warning since HTTP images are interspersed on the page.
 * This is resolved by use of NGG’s Misc Options ‘Clear Image Cache’ button. However,
   it, at some point, reverts to previous behavior of HTTP links. Note that it is
   in a fixed state now on the affected page, so you won’t see it.
 * A user previously mentioned it [here](https://wordpress.org/support/topic/nextgen-gallery-uses-http-links-instead-of-https/)(
   and probably the post he referenced). However, your support incorrectly closed
   his request, assuming it was some SSL config error.
 * It is also mentioned [here on an SO question](https://stackoverflow.com/questions/43070424/nexgen-gallery-wordpress-https-update).
   That is where I got the tip to clear NGG’s image cache.
 * Other than NGG, which I hope to deprecate in the future, especially after this
   issue as well as [this one](https://wordpress.org/support/topic/simple-lightbox-crashes-in-new-version-3-3-6/),
   there is little other third-party plugins and no caching plugins that would interfere.
 * It seems purely an NGG issue. Please look into it. Thank you!

 * Hello [@bitsum](https://wordpress.org/support/users/bitsum/),
 * Thank you so much for sharing.
    Most of the time problems with SSL certificates
   are solved by using a plugin like “Real Simple SSL” [https://wordpress.org/plugins/really-simple-ssl/](https://wordpress.org/plugins/really-simple-ssl/)
 * That will force the whole WordPress install to use https links only.
    Note: this
   will fix mixed content issues as well if you have any.

 * It isn’t related to the general SSL/TLS configuration of the server, or certificate.
 * Sometimes, bizarrely, NextGen chooses HTTP instead of HTTPS .. For instance,
   the below. I haven’t nailed down why this is happening sporadically, it seems
   odd, but am about to patch the gallery.php to replace HTTP with HTTPS.

 * Hi [@bitsum](https://wordpress.org/support/users/bitsum/),
 * You may need your hosting provider help on this one since they can hard rewrite
   the links’ protocol.
