[Nextgen Gallery] Slideshow should load thumbnails instead of full image

  • Hi there.

Our images are really big. (About 3508 x 2480 pixel!) So the slideshow needs a long time to load the next images.

We are also using Nextgen to create thumbnails with a size about 600 x 450 pixels. And here is the point. How can I tell the slideshow, that it should only load the created thumbnails instead of the full sized image?

Any ideas? Thanks and best greetings. =)

    Pascal

  • Does anyone have a solution? =(

There is no out of the box solution, you need to change the code in this case… Require PHP knowledge

    Hi Alex,

thanks for your answer. Btw a great plugin, really nice work.

Ok, that’s not too bad. But can you tell me on which php file I should look for?

    Thanks and best greetings. 😉

I just had a similar situation, although my large photos are not anywhere near as large as yours are, so don’t know if this will work for you. My low-tech solution was to add the thumbnail widths to the slideshow css – specifically .ngg-imagebrowser and .ngg-imagebrowser img in nggallery.css. This displays my slideshow at the thumbnail size, but zooms the full size photo when they’re clicked.
