• After going through the Dashboard within WP Better Security and renaming my wp-content folder, I notice that none of the images in my NextGen galleries are showing on the site. I checked the gallery settings and they are showing the old path, namely, “wp-content/gallery/gallery name“.

The plugin does not simply allow me to rename the path, it is a locked feature. Can anyone suggest a simple fix for this, without having to rebuild all of the galleries? Thanks in advance. Wm

  • Try deactivating WP Better Security.

Are you on GoDaddy or other big name hosting site ?

If so you should have a control panel feature.

Make a new directory wp-content in the root of your WordPress installation. Inside there make another gallery directory.

Make sure directory names are lowercase. I believe WordPress is case sensitive.

Then you should be able to select the old gallery from the newly renamed directory and move it to the original location.

Then reactive the WP Better Security.

    Good luck.

Hi and thanks for your reply. In essence I did exactly as you described, simply recreating the folder named “wp-content” and placing all of the content back there. However, it seems rather counter-intuitive to rename the wp-content folder only to re-create it later. Am I not just as vulnerable to attack as I was before renaming to wp-content folder? Thanks again.

I hear you. Past postings re-naming or moving the gallery path has lead to problems and complications.

    Hopefully you can bounce back.

Well you’re only gonna have images there, but at the end of the day if someone wants to hack you and has the abilities directory re-naming may not pose a problem.

    I dunno.

    Good luck.
