Nextgen Gallery doesn't work with Nginx in Plesk 12.x

    Hi,

    Nextgen Gallery doesn’t work with Nginx in Plesk 12.x

    Frontend in posts states: no images were found
    Backend in post, ‘Attach NextGen Gallery to Post’ loads the iFrame/Lightbox window containing a broken Frontpage or empty page.

    I have tried turning off all other plugins and using the default Theme, e.g. 2014 and its still broken.

    I have no problem with any other plugins, lightboxes or galleries.

    – WordPress up to date? YES 3.9.1
    – NextGEN up to date? YES 2.0.66
    – What version of NextGEN Gallery did you upgrade from? (i.e. I had 1.9.13, then upgraded to 2.0.61) No idea

    (please confirm the following, with your server host tech) :
    – MySQL up to date (at least 5.0)? 5.5.37 – MySQLi 5.5.37
    – PHP up to date (at least 5.2.4)? PHP Version 5.4.4-14+deb7u12
    – The mod_rewrite Apache module activated? YES
    – PHP Safe Mode OFF? YES

    – Debian 7.5 wheezy
    – Plesk 12.0.18 Update #7
    – PHP Server API FPM/FastCGI

    Additional information that will help us find a solution:
    – Who are you hosted with? Rackspace
    – What theme are you running? Theme Name: Theme1178 – Version: 1.0
    – Which plugins do you have installed and activated? – Tested with none
    – Does this error still occur if you switch your theme to a WordPress Twenty series theme and deactivate all plugins except NextGEN YES Gallery? (please be sure to clear your browser cache and reload your site after deactivating) YES

    Please advise further before I’m forced to ditch NGG.

    @elemental.tm – We have many installations that run NextGEN Gallery on nginx without issue, there is not a lot I can really offer outside of the WordPress environment except to suggest these articles to ensure your installation meets their recommendations.

    Best of luck as it reads like you have eliminated all of the usual suspects when it comes to NextGEN Gallery not working as expected with the troubleshooting you have already done.

    I’m running Plesk v12.x if that doesn’t adhere to Nginx recommendations then I guess a lot of people are in trouble. I hate to say it but MaxGalleria works perfectly. I could be wrong but my gut feel is your overlooking something. It’s a shame there is nothing in the error logs for me to assist you in resolving.

    @elemental.tm – It would be great if there was something in the error_log files; and, as I noted, we have many nginx installations that do work correctly.

    Perhaps a link to your site might provide some clues in the page source.
