Nextgen Gallery and WordPress 3.5.1 – can't set featured image from my Gallery

    I recently upgraded my wordpress install to v3.5.1, the latest version of WordPress.

    I’m running the latest version of the NGG Gallery plugin, Version 1.9.10.

    The problem is before v3.5.1, i could go to a Page, edit that page, click Featured Image and select an image from my NGG Gallery and set that image as the featured image.

    After updating to v3.5.1, probably because wordpress added many enhancements to the Media library, when i go to edit a page and click set featured image, i can no longer access the NGG Galleries.

    Anyone know if there are still hooks to the media gallery for external gallery plugins?

    I am using the most up to date of everything. I tried Twenty Twelve and it seemed to work fine. Weird thing is that the theme I am using was designed to work with nextgen gallery….Any ideas? I have tried ThemeAlley support since I paid for the theme with no response from them.

    So…I also tried disabling all plugins, including nextgen gallery and tried to just use the standard gallery. When I try to upload a new picture it errors with a “http error” in the right side of the media console window. I am out of ideas. I have tried reinstalling everything….

    Sounds like theme conflict (or a plugin the theme uses). I “roll my own” websites, so can’t advise re theme alley, as I prefer to identify/fix any issues myself.

    This method does work for me, but the problem is that the imageused as the featured image from the NextGEN gallery does not get posted on Facebook with the WP FACEBOOK plugin, but a featured image from the media library does. It is easier to use a featured image from the nextGEN gallery as they are in folders and easy to find. It is a nusance to have to copy these images to the media library to use them in posts that will be shown on Facebook.

    Is there a solution to this?
