NextGEN Download Gallery ist deprecated from NextGen

    The NextGEN Download Gallery is deprecated by NextGEN. So I’m wondering if I should use the plugin at all.
    Isn’t there another plugin that also allows downloads from galleries?
    Why is it so hard to get there?
