[resolved] NextGen Custom Fields... (5 posts)

Please bear with me, I'm a complete beginner...
I started using NextGen Gallery as my first plug-in and it's working well.
However, I didn't realise I couldn't add descriptions to individual photos, so I downloaded NextGen Custom Fields...
No matter where I try to place the "show code" in the NGG template and despite trawling here and reading various posts, I cannot get the photo descriptions to display when my slideshow plays.
Could anyone offer me a solution, please? (preferably in "idiot-speak".
    Thank you.

    Hi emkcid
What shortcode are you using to show the NextGEN Gallery in your page? And what template are you putting the tag to show the custom field in?

    Hi there
I just added the Slideshows into my pages via the "kitchen sink" button and it shows in my pages as />[slideshow id=1] I have 3 slideshows on 3 pages and they display properly when those pages are viewed.

The NGG template I was trying to add the tag for "custom field" to is nextgen-gallery/view/gallery.php (which I thought I saw you recommend to someone in an earlier post).

The gallery.php template is used to show the normal gallery, when you use the shortcode [nggallery id=x]. As far as I remember, the slideshows are hard-coded directly into core code of NGG. This makes adding the custom fields there a little more tricky, and probably not for the beginner.
If you really need custom fields there, you might need someone with a bit more web development knowledge o help you out.

Ok, thank you very much for your help, at least I'm glad it wasn't just me being totally thick...
I guess I'll try to find a slideshow plug-in that lets me add descriptions to each photo easily, without any add-ons.
    Take it easy...
