    We are currently forwarding all bounces from the Bounce Receival Email to a second address, so we can analyze the bounce messages. We configured an email server to reject our test address. If we send a newsletter to the test address, we correctly receive a bounce message (SMTP error 550) and the Tribulant Newsletter plugin correctly identifies the mail as bounced.

    However, the plugin also marks the corresponding newsletter as read, even though nobody accessed the the test email box. If we disable forwarding from the Bounce Receival Email postbox, this does not happen.

    We are still investigating, but it seems the plugin does not recognize bounces where the target mail server does not answer. In such cases, these newsletters are marked as read if forwarding from the Bounce Receival Email address is active.

    How to explain this behavior of the plugin?
