[Resolved] News Site Modification

  • So.. I am attempting to use wordpress for my school’s news website, to put the articles that we write online.

I was to make all the articles Able to be commented on, but i dont want them posted to the front page, like a blog.

I know WP is a blog CMS, but i think someone knows a way to achieve what i need.

    here is my dilemma:
I want the Articles that we write to be able to be commented, but i dont want them on the front page. I want them to be Indexed into subpages, similar to the Page sections, but i still want them to be able to have comments, like posts.

  • If you look around in your own admin panel (always a wise thing to do with a new tool!) – you should discover in Options > Reading: you have the ability to assign a static Page as your home/front page and in that case your posts/articles will not appear on the front.
You still can put them in categories and have comments on them.

    thanks my friend..

i have been looking through the admin panel all day. lol!!

    but i assumed it’d be in the manage section >_<;;

haha thank you very much ^_^

But i’d also like all of the posts to be on separate pages. is that possible?

    bump?

    Moshu pointed you to
    Administration > Options > Reading.

Try the A static page option.

    nvm.. found it

But i’d also like all of the posts to be on separate pages. is that possible?

Of course you’ve discovered that every post automatically has its own single-post webpage in WordPress ^_^

This is for your school’s student newspaper? It will be nice if you post the website in the Your WordPress section of the Forum when it is online.
