Support » Theme: Appointment » News area stopped allowing html

  • I update everything every few month but the last update (from 2.7.8 to broke my complete homepage. I fortunately went to customizer and saw the notice about “Webriti Companion Plugin” … as I installed and activated it, almost everything looked as normal .. but if that IS NECESSARY to work properly, why is it not automatically installed and activated during theme update?

My problem is now the news area is still broken, where obviously the input-fields title (id: “_customize-input-appointment_options[blog_heading]”) and description (id: “_customize-input-appointment_options[blog_description]”) are no longer recognizing their values as html but only text. Would you PLEASE change it back so it is possible to write html code in it? ..Who does that? First, allowing writing HTML and THEN in some update only accepting text any longer. That’s just mean.

Would you please correct that, otherwise, I’m no longer able to update.

    Thank you!

  • Hi, elsadesica

    Thanks for contacting us!

    Sorry for the inconvenience.
Actually, we have made our themes according to the review guidelines.
The “Webriti Companion” plugin is not necessary for the theme to work. If the plugin is automatically installed and activated during the theme update then it will not up to the theme review guidelines. So If you want the Homepage sections, then only you need to install and activate the plugin otherwise not.

In the news section, the HTML tags are not inserting because these fields are escaped with esc_html function. But if you want to enter the HTML tags in the heading and description, just change the escaping functions.

    Follow the below steps:
    1. Create a child theme, ignore if already existing.
    2. Create an index-news.php, open and paste this code.
    3. Save and activate.

Let me know for any confusion!
