• I’ve downloaded and installed WordPress onto a Windows 10 machine using the MS Web Installer. This also installed MS Webmatrix. The WordPress install went OK, and I was able to get into the config for the default site.

I then wanted to migrate an existing WordPress site from another (Windows 2008) server. It’s possible that the other server was running an older version of WordPress.

To set up the migrated site on the new server I did the following:
    – Copied all of the website files from the old server to a new folder on the Windows 10 machine
    – Exported the WP database from the old server and imported it to the new machine
    – Used IIS manager to create a new site on the new machine, pointing at the new folder.

When I try to access the site on the new machine I get Error 500.

I’ve tried copying all of the WP files from the WP root folder to the new website’s folder, and then re-copying wp-config from the old server, but it didn’t help.

Any ideas for how I can diagnose this?

    – Check the error logs on your server for a more specific error message and see why it’s failing.
