Support » Fixing WordPress » Newest upgrade has ruined my setup

  • I just updated to WordPress 3.9.1, and since I did, my journal’s setup is completely messed up. I had an author’s list on the left, which has disappeared; and all of my entries (some of which go back 20 years) are completely out of order – the only way I can get to the most recent entries is by choosing the current month in the archive, and even then the order of the entries has been changed from most recent first to least recent first.

I’m not very technical-minded, and I’ve been all over the Internet, trying to work out how either to fix it or to downgrade back to the version (3.1.2?) I was using before, so I could really use some help.

I’m using the Greening theme, with two (I think) plugins and a few widgets.

Where did you download the Greening theme from?

There’s no way to downgrade unless you have a database backup from before the upgrade.

I did do an automatic upgrade that included a database backup before I upgraded. (I’m just not sure how to use it.)

I’ve had the Greening theme for a long time, so I’m not completely sure; I thought I got it when I downloaded WordPress, but now I’m not positive of where it came from. I did try previewing some other themes, with no change in these strange changes.

The theme is broken; find another one that is 3.9 compatible. It’s a big jump from 3.1 to 3.9.

There is no Greening theme in the directory.

I changed the theme several times to recent themes, and it made no difference to the order of my entries.

However, I talked to one of my readers and he says that, for him, the entries are showing in the proper order, just as usual. I have no idea what this means. Anyone?
