[resolved] Newbie Question - Implementing Plugin to Site (3 posts)

I've worked on WordPress for a handful of years now but I still consider myself a newbie since I haven't gotten the time to delve into really building a WordPress theme from scratch - My knowledge of PHP is very basic - but not minimal.

I'm working on developing a website for a Church and instead of using the SermonBrowser plugin (https://wordpress.org/plugins/sermon-browser/) I thought that it would be more beneficial in the long run to integrate the ChurchThemeContent plugin.

Can I have a rundown on how exactly to integrate the plugin to a site?
This is the site I'm working on: http://hopechristianchurch.com.au [Currently using Divi Theme of ElegantThemes and Blubbry Podcast Plugin for sermon playing and podcast capabilities]

I've already included the CODE from the documentation to my functions.php [http://churchthemes.com/guides/developer/church-theme-content/]

And I really don't know what to do next.

I would really appreciate any help with this.
    Thank you in advance!

This plugin is intended for use with themes that explicitly support it. Divi does not support the plugin. The simplest way to use the plugin is to choose a theme that already supports it.

If you want to add support to Divi you will either need to fork the theme or use a child theme. You will need WordPress theme development skills in order to do this. What the plugin does is register post types, taxonomies and custom fields. Plugins are for functionality (what this plugin provides) and themes are for presentation (that's up to you as a theme developer).

It sounds like you've used add_theme_support() to enable the plugin's features. Now you need to make Divi show the content. Please see "Showing Content" in the starter guide: http://churchthemes.com/guides/developer/church-theme-content/#showing-content. This is where theme development skills are necessary. If you are new to theme development, these resources will be helpful:
