  • Hi guys,
Please pardon my lack of WordPress intelligence. WordPress is like a foreign language to me.

I am looking to build a membership site. What I am about to explain will probably be a foreign language to you guys, so I guess we’re even, LOL.

I do what are called “group breaks” relating to baseball cards. Basically, it’s a group of individuals who pay for a “spot” in a “break” of a factory sealed case of baseball cards. According to the team they select in the break, they get all the cards from that team that are pulled.

I want my own website dedicated to my group breaks. Ideally, I would like for individuals to be able to become a member on my site. Once they are a member, they can sign up for spots in breaks and pay for their spots on the site.

The way it works currently, everything is done on a message board. They sign up for spots and then pay me via Paypal at their convenience. I keep track of everything manually and update the “thread” to reflect when people sign up and when they pay.

Once all spots are filled and paid for, I hold a live draft order drawing and steam it on ustream. Once the draft order is determined, it’s back to the boards again where they can draft their team according to their draft position.

I would like the website to be fully functional. In the end, I would like for all aspects of the break to take place on the site, including signup for new breaks, spot payments, draft (tricky), etc. But for now, I would just like to have the site functional enough to allow people to create an account, sign up for new breaks, and pay for their spots, and have the site keep track.

Surely this is possible, but where in the world do I start? Sorry for the long post. Thanks for any advice!
