Support » Themes and Templates » Newbie needs help – my custom template replaced by mistake

  • I apologize if I am re-posting, but I cannot find my original post from last night. My site Tiptoe Jenkins was built by a friend for me. I am trying to learn the ins and outs of WordPress, and wanted to make some changes, unfortunately I made a big change that I didn’t mean to. Is there a way to find my original ‘site’ (I’m not sure if it was a template she created) and reapply? I see index.php, stylesheets but nothing I do changes the site back to its original design, which was a peach-ish color with a border and logo, etc. Thank you for your help.

  • Your blog is now showing the ‘classic’ theme that you select via the Presentation tab. Do you see other themes in your Presentation tab?

If you don’t see your theme in the Presentation tab then you may need to Change File Permissions on your wp-content/theme/your-theme folder or find and install the originaly theme files.

If you made a change to your theme’s template files and didn’t have a backup of the files, you might be out of luck.

    WordPress Backups
    Editing Files
    Adding new themes
