    Hi Everyone,

I really need your help. I accidently deleted my home page (should have deleted the post). I have searched codex, and the forums (the same question but never answered) and watched You Tube videos. That says it should be in my trash which should be next to my published page link on my ‘pages’ page. However there is no trash link there.

Please somebody help or everything I have done is a complete waste of time.

The URL to the page is

contact your host and ask them if they have backup of your site to the point before this problem (you may also have the backup). If they or you can restore it to that point would be little easier.

Your front page is set to display posts (the default), so if you’re looking in the trash for a ‘page’ that you deleted, it will not show up there. Instead, go to admin > Posts and see if any recently deleted that you can recover (although I’m guessing you deleted the default Hello World post, which is cool, just make a new post and the 404 message will be replaced by your new content.

If you’re looking to have a static “Home” page and a separate “Blog” page, here’s quick how to I wrote the other day:

looking at your site…..your home page is an archive page. Which tells me that it was just your normal index page.

Index page is made up of your blog posts, so you can either write new posts, and they will show up there

Or go to settings->reading, and assign a page to be your front page if you want a static fron page

Thank you all so much. You are right it is still there. I will now sort things out as per jakep_sf excellent instructions. Many thanks to you all for your time. Sophie
