• Hi,
This is a question for wordpress in general. I have noticed recently that new versions of wordpress are being released at a quicker rate than normal. Can you please tell me what is behind this? From a security viewpoint this is of course a good thing. The only problem is that, for websites running on themes, a theme update usually follows too.

    Thanks

Well, 5.0.1 was a security release. Would have happened regardless. 5.0.2 is the “standard” bugfixing release after introducing a major new feature. These usually happen whitin 2-3 weeks after the main release.

I think the releases “pace” is pretty good now though. Wouldn’t you want to get bug fixes sooner rather than later? 🙂

Hi, thanks for the clarification. This wasn’t a criticism, just wanting to understand, as I do not recollect new versions coming up at this rate. I absolutely welcome any steps that lead to a smooth running of wordpress websites.

    Sure, no problems 🙂

It’s not unusual to have a few minor updates after a major version is released, has happened several times in the past.
