# New WordPress installation

 * My URL is massexit.org and I have attempted [http://massexit.org/wp-admin/install.php](http://massexit.org/wp-admin/install.php).
   All I can get back is Error 404! The root directory is / and that is where wp-
   admin, wp-content and wp-includes are all located. I found a couple of files 
   missing, but have gone over the whole structure and all files have uploaded correctly.
   Host is 1and1.com, FWIW.

 * it looks like you have pass-worded the root directory from the host’s control
   panel

 * Samboll – You were correct. I messed up, but have now fixed that, but still get
   error 404. The remainder of my original post is still the same. Any other ideas?

 * not sure what’s going on really if your files are really in the root
 * I will look at it if you are comfortable letting me in your host’s control panel
   for a few minutes – just email me
