New Widget interface broken, have to edit via “Manage with live preview”?

    So I’ve recently updated, and the new widget interface is completely inoperable, it doesn’t show any of the widgets in an available widget area.
    It only shows the large “+” button to add a new widget.

    I have to go to Manage via live preview” to edit the widget area’s associated widgets.

    Here’s what I see in the dashboard for my “Header Top Right” widget area.

    It shows no content, but there’s a text block there /w a shortcode in it.

    As you can see, I can see the textbox and edit the contents.

    Why am I unable to edit these in the dashboard anymore?
    I am running 5.8.3
