• I just updated to the new version of windows and also updated my theme through OptimizePress. Now my site isn’t working and I’m getting “warning” notices.
(Warning: Illegal string offset ‘output’ in /home4/wpg/public_html/wp-content/themes/optimizePressTheme/lib/assets/default.php on line 1892

Warning: Illegal string offset ‘output’ in /home4/wpg/public_html/wp-content/themes/optimizePressTheme/lib/assets/default.php on line 1892″

I have no idea what to do to fix it at this point. Any help would sure be appreciated.

    Thanks!
    Lisanne

  • From the error code that you posted above, it is an error with your theme.

If you can access your admin, try switching to the Twenty Fifteen theme to rule-out a theme-specific issue (theme functions can interfere like plugins).

If you can’t access your admin, access your server via FTP or SFTP, navigate to /wp-content/themes/ and rename the directory of your currently active theme. This will force the default theme to activate and hopefully rule-out a theme-specific issue (theme functions can interfere like plugins).

Thank you Matthew. I have figured out the problem, now I just need to figure out how to FIX it. For some reason, I receieved a pop up from WordPress yesterday that said I needed to update my OptimizePress version. Without thinking, I pushed the button to update it. I don’t USE OptimizePress…I use Studio Press by Genesis with a child theme of AgentPress. This “update” blew out my webpage. I haven’t yet figured out the backup process…so I’m not sure how to repair it.
    🙁

You should be able to use FTP or Cpanel to delete that bad theme from your site –

    wp-content
         themes
             optimizePressTheme - DELETE THIS FOLDER

Thank you. I was able to delte the theme, but then I had to completely re-install my AgentPress, which installed as the template and NONE of my content is there. Do I have to rebuild my entire website?

    Thanks!

Deleting a theme (or plugin) should not remove content – have you tried deactivating your plugins to see if any are causing trouble?

Also, try switching to a default theme to see if your content shows up there.

Yep…I tried it. Even with another theme, ALL of my content is gone. Even my widgets are gone. I have NO idea what happened. When I pushed that button to “upgrade” to OptimizePress, I lost it all. (Unless something else caused it that I am unaware of.)
Wait! Come to think of it, I received the following email a few days ago. It was 2 days after that when a friend said that my website wasn’t working.
Could this have caused a problem?

    Thanks for your help!

So did you auto update from 3.75 to 4.1? That could easily cause problems – generally, you need to do more incremental updates –

Do you (or your host) have a backup of your site from before this happened?
