I logged on my wordpress site (www.qualilogy.com) as every saturday, in order to manage backups, updates, blocked IPs (for trying too many passwords).

There was an available update “There is a new version of Floating Social Media Icon available. View version 2.2 details or update now.”

I updated and immediately got all the site with a ‘under maintenance’ page. I could not even continue working into wordpress.
I went on my server and there was a ‘floating-social-media-icon’ directory under ‘/wp-content/upgrade’. I moved this directory under a tmp folder and now the situation is back to normal, I can log as admin under wordpress.

I really thought I had been hacked. I will remove this plugin immediately.

    Hello,

Thanks for being with us, The issue happened because, during the upgrade process, your server may stopped executing the upgrade process and it was not completed.

This can happen on many reasons, Can happen when there is high load on server at the time (not because of your site or our plugin but as a shared resource), or a server service reboot.

Its nothing related to the plugin or its code. Because of the execution not completely happened, the maintenance mode that wordpress set during the time of update is there and not removed automatically.

So you removed it and site is back up. Hope its clear now, let us know if there is any questions.
