    Hi guys,

I can't get my WP website to work right. It is not allowing new users to register. I am using buddypress and i don't think it is linking correctly :(

    Any ideas what's wrong please?

Try a couple of basic troubleshooting steps: - Clear your browser's cookies and all cache.
    - Try deactivating ALL plugins temporarily to see if this resolves the problem. If this works, re-activate them individually (one-by-one) to find the problematic plugin(s).
    - If that does not resolve the issue, try switching to the unedited default, core-bundled Theme for a moment using the WP dashboard to rule out any theme-specific issue.

    Much appreciated Tara.

If i switch to the unedited default, will i be able to return to my edited version after, or will i lose edits?

    Thanks

Of course. After test, just switch back.

Have you craeted a child theme? No? consider creating one. Otherwise you will lose all your customization when you next update.

Is the name of your edited theme the same as the name of your unedited theme. Yes? Be careful.

    - BTW, if you haven't already done, always backup everything (including your database) before doing any actions, just in case something really goes wrong. It's a great safety net.

You can put any file that you have modified/newly added.

For more info, please review the codex I linked in my previous reply.

If do a google search you will find many tutorials. But the WP codex I linked should be sufficient to create a child theme
