I created a new user called Media Manager. I gave this user access to the Media Library
and also to the page Patterns. However, after logging in as this new user role, When I look at all my pages within my dashboard, ALL of them only allow me to “view” the page, even the Patterns page. I need this role to edit just the patterns page and no others.
    What am I doing wrong?

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

  • I have tried several things in order to try the simple task of having a new role only be allowed to edit a single page. Documentation does not seem to help. No examples.
Does anybody know how to do this or if it is even possible with this plugin?
    Thank-you

The problem with this is that core WordPress doesn’t separate the have a create_pages capability. It only has an edit_pages capability for both “creating” and “editing” pages. Because it’s not separate, there’s no way to do what you’re asking out of the box.

However, you can do that with my Core Create Caps add-on: https://themehybrid.com/plugins/members-core-create-caps

Basically, it splits the create_pages and edit_pages capability.

You can assign a user with a role that only has the edit_pages cap (but not the create_pages cap) as the author of the “Patterns” page. Then, that user won’t be able to create new pages.

After giving this a rest for a week, I came back to it again today to find that it is working as I described it. Don’t know if you changed anything or perhaps the possible offending plugin was changed but somehow all is OK with the plugin at this point.
