[29-Jun-2024 17:15:44 UTC] PHP Parse error: syntax error, unexpected '?' in /home/w3u8gz2yj0ta/public_html/wp-content/plugins/envira-gallery-lite/includes/global/Envira_Tracking.php on line 48

The new update is causing an error on the site so I have to disable the plugin. It’s a legacy site that needs an older version of PHP which I suspect is the issue, though most plugins now seem to do a PHP version check before updating. How can I fix this or roll back to an earlier version.

    Thanks!

    Hi @maddogprod,

Thank you for reaching out to us!

Could you please confirm which version of PHP you are using on your server? You can find this information by going to the WP dashboard > Tools > Site Health > Info, then clicking on the ‘Copy Site Health Info’ button and pasting the information here.

We look forward to your response.

    Thanks!

Oh, it’s ancient.  PHP 5.6.40. Which means WP is out of date too. Legacy client site who doesn’t want to update anything so it will all work.

    Hi @maddogprod,

    Thanks for the details,

Envira Gallery doesn’t work with PHP version below 7.0. So the only way to fix the issue is either to upgrade the PHP version or still use the old version of the plugin.

Basically upgrading the PHP version, you will be able to work well with our Envira Gallery plugins and other WordPress components.

    Thanks!

Thanks. I understand about the old PHP version issues but it’s up to the client. Is there a place I can download and manually install an older version of Envira that will work with this version of PHP?

    Hi @maddogprod,

    Thanks for reaching back,

In-order to roll back to the older version of Envira Gallery, you can use the WP Rollback free plugin.

Before making any change, please be sure to back up your site.

Let us know how that goes for you.

    Thanks!

Thanks, but unfortunately it doesn’t work with PHP/WP versions this old either. Do you have a repository of past versions so I can download and manually install it?

    Hi @maddogprod,

To download the older version of the plugin, please follow the steps below:

    1. Go to https://wordpress.org/plugins/envira-gallery-lite/advanced/.
    2. Choose the version and download the plugin.
    3. Upload the plugin on WordPress Dashboard.

    I hope this helps!
