    Hi,

Congratulations on your acquisition of SSP. I’m looking forward to future updates and new features.

Just a quick question: Since I don’t have any serious functional problems with the existing version, if I have issues after updating to the new version, will I be able to rollback to the older version of the plugin? Also, any estimates when the new version will be released?

Are you planning on working on the stats plugin any time soon? It doesn’t seem to work on my setup.

    Thanks.
    Alexis

    Hi Alexis,

Thanks for the message. We’re working on a major release for the plugin that should come in the next week or two. It will have some enhancemenets around ensuring feed validation as well as off site media hosting capabilities (something I know lots of people have been looking for). This will eliminate the need to use another hosting provider like Libsyn or Soundcloud.

As for the stats module, yes that’s next on our ToDo list. What sorts of problems are you having with it right now? If you could send me some screenshots, etc. that’d be great.

    Hi Craig,

I am not getting any of the ‘plays’ logged in the stats – just the ‘downloads’. I checked the database and nothing is logged there either.

I had a look at the code and I can’t find the code path which is suppose to record the podcast ‘plays’. Perhaps if you could provide me with the stack trace (function calls) for ‘plays’ I could debug the code and provide more useful information.

    Thanks,
    Alexis

    Hi Alexis,

Are you still having issues with this?

I was unable to recreate this issue on my local environment as I am able to track number of plays.

Are your podcasts hosted through any cloud services or anything else we should be aware of?

Thank you for your patience regarding this.

    Hi Andrew,

    The issue still persists.

The wordpress site is hosted at BlueHost. The podcast audio files are uploaded and stored in their default wordpress location.

    Thanks,
    Alexis

Thanks for the feedback Alexis. My sincerest apologies for the delay.

Would you mind running debug logging so we may see if there are any hidden PHP errors?

You may follow this guide here – https://codex.wordpress.org/Debugging_in_WordPress

    Please keep me posted.

    Hi Andrew,

I’ve enabled debugging. No errors are being logged in the log file.

Both ‘Direct Download’ and ‘Played in new window’ are logged in the stats. However playing directly from the player is not logged at all.

From what I see, in the first two instances the actual code path for logging the stat is different (i.e. it is tracked as a file download) from the third instance. So the problem lies only with the ‘streamed plays’.

    Thanks,
    Alexis

    Hi Andrew,

I can confirm exactly the same behavior with version 1.15.2.

    Thanks,
    Alexis

This issue no longer exists after updating to v1.16.1.

    Thanks,
    Alexis.
