New UI does not work properly with Macintosh and Safari
-
The new UI does not work properly with Macintosh and Safari. I am using Safari 18.3.1 on Mac Sequoia 15.3.2. I have gone through a cycle of deactivating, deleting BackWPup, reinstalling it and activating it several times. Each time when I select FTP and fill in the appropriate configuration information (which is accepted by the “Save and Test” button, BackWPup uses the Website Server target, even when it is shown as not being selected. The UI requires the admin to create a backup as the initial action, but when selecting FTP, filling in the appropriate information and Saving/Testing it, it returns to the settings page and immediately starts backing up the site. This not desirable, since it does not give the admin the opportunity to select the type of backup (I want .zip), but instead backs up to .tar. The initial backup is saved to the “Website Server” (whatever that is), but uses a directory called “uploads” that doesn’t exist. When I create such a directory before reinstalling BackWPup, the backup file is not saved there. If I deactivate and then reactivate BackWPup in order to get it to reset its settings, then delete the backup information created during installation, it hangs the browser. None of the links work (clicking on them does nothing) and I am forced to deactivate and uninstall the plugin, then install it again and activate it. This puts me back into the situation described above.
In summary, at least for Macintosh/Safari, this UI is unusable. I would like a way to uninstall it and install the previous version (4.x), which worked flawlessly.
