New to WP – Trouble with Widget(s)

  • I’m new to WP so bare with me. I simply want to add a Flikr widget. I have a WordPress for Dummies book and I must really be a Dummy b/c I still don’t get it. It’s not an option offered with my theme to simply drop in. So do I….ass an RSS widget or Test widget and then download something and it will just appear. Oh please help. I was exited about this until I got stuck adding stuff.

  • Did that book mentioned something like a Flickr Plugin that needed to be installed and activated before you can use the Widget?

It references themes that support FlickrRSS Plugins but it doesn’t outline if that means those themes are Flickr ready and it doesn’t say what to do if you selected a theme that doesn’t have a ready to go Flickr widget.

WEll the good thing with Wigets is, that any theme that supports widgets will support any widget the one or other plugin will provide. So chances are very well that if you install the FlickrRSS Plugin, that you will have a Flickr Widget later on.

But: As far as I can read there, flickrRSS does not provide a widget.
