Hello. I am fairly new to WP, but have some experience of using XML, PHP and Flash for web design.

I would like to use WordPress as a content management system to achieve something like this:
    fullyillustrated.com
Would this simply involve editing themes? If so could anyone give me a link to a good tutorial to achieve something similar?

    Many thanks.

  • A quick look makes me think that this is a plain and simple (WP) site. It’s chronologically built and I haven’t seen any features that are not built in WP standard. Of course you’ll have to find/make a “theme” to your liking, that’s the easy part. If you want different functionalities from the standard WP pack, you will require plugins or some coding of yourself, but I think that the site you refer to can be made with not too much coding.

benattenborough, if you want a site like that then as Gangleri said, its just wordpress but with a very good theme. But more importantly that chap who owns the site has a talent, a talent for photography and creativity – so if you have these two you have all the ingredients.

Undoubtedly, his work is a huge inspiration. I will research developing themes for use as a CMS further, and see how it goes. Many thanks, Ben.
