I attempted searching for something on this topic, but couldn't find anything....sorry if this is a duplicate post.
I installed WP not 25 minutes ago, and when I went in to edit my template the button (which I'm assuming would normally say Update...or something along those lines) said "(You cannot update that file/template: must make it writable, e.g. CHMOD 666)"
Not sure what file I'm supposed to be CHMOD'ing

the index.php file's attributes (and any file you intend to edit) needs to be chmod 666 (or greater). In FileZilla, if you right-click on a file and click "File Attributes...", you can set it there. Not sure about other ftp clients.
