Learning WordPress?

Hi all,

I am really really new to wordpress and have just gained a junior developer/designer position at an agency starting next year.

As such I need to learn as much about wordpress as I can do. My background is working with Drupal (as I guess my username suggests). I have had a bit of a play around and wordpress seems similar but I guess different.

My question is, other than the documentation on wordpress.org and the numerous videos on youtube. Has anyone got any tutorials, hints or tips that they would recommend?

I found with drupal, Acquia (who I guess are a bit like wordpress.com in some ways) made a load of videos for learning5 Drupal (creating themes, module development (I guess wordpress plugins), general site building). These for me where possibly the best introduction. So I was not sure if there is something like that for wordpress.

Also is a wordpress IRC or slack group? Drupal has a really good slack support group which is excellent for getting quick solutions).

Any other tips, hints etc I would really appreciate!
