But I can’t get past the 1st instruction as wp-admin/install. php is not there. There is a file called wp-admin, which when I click on admin I get some files but when I click the admin file I get a series of other files. All my files appear to be empty * Please can someone help? I’ve been trying for days to work it out. When you extract the contents, wp-admin is a folder, not a file. It contains some other folders, as well as a file install.php. * To actually get this to work, you need to put everything on a web server and visit domain.com/wp-admin/install.php. Remember to replace domain.com with your own domain name. * If you don’t have web hosting space or a domain name, you can still use WordPress by installing all the necessary programs onto your PC. WAMP is a package for windows that’ll install all the necessary things for you. And when it comes to this I think I must be. – I think that you are saying that WordPress will not work unless I have a host site. So I need to do that before I attempt to download WordPress as it will not work. Is that correct? * Currently I am waiting to hear from a friend who will let me host my site on their hosting system (if that’s the right word). You can either pay a webhost for space, use your friend’s space, or you can install the necessary components onto your own computer to turn it into a web server. * WAMP is the name of the package that has all the necessary components to turn your computer into a web server and run WordPress. * Any of the above suggestions will work. Just use the one which is most convenient for you.
