Can I actually use wordpress to create a web site that easy to build and can hand over to my son to share adding content? And are themes the way to go?

    Thank you.

That’s a perfect reason to use it, brainsell! You will just need to create an account for him (under Users), and give him the correct permissions.

He’ll be able to add/edit pages and posts.

He’s a musician and i want to help him create vidoes, event calendar, photos – so this basic prior to blogs. Will this still be a good web design app?

You are at right place you can use wordpress as you wish no restrictions if you use it on your own host.

brainsell wp is perfect for what you ask.IMO you should first test varius plugins and themes until you reach the desired outcome and then create a user for your son. There are plenty of wordpress themes you might like,i would prefer a magazine style for a musician.

WordPress is really flexible and can be turned to a variety of uses, so far I have used WordPress for a multi-author community site, a music site that displays videos and albums, commercial design site, personal sites and so on.

Once you have your site up and running, all functionality can be extended via plugins, and the best thing about WordPress is the ease of use, once you get started.
