It looks great HemisphereDancer 🙂
Added it to the WordPress Reference Centre Theme Viewer
in FF the left border is a bit off. May want to extend the footer to match the rest of the site. Looks a good effort, but worth going through and giving it a thorough test to see if you can bork it:)
Just fixed the footer width and updated the gz file.
“… tortured photographer/writer trapped inside of an engineer…”
Haha I like that!
I have to admit I like Rin, except for one little thing. If you look at the source (or make the mistake of trying to view the site without styles – it’s true, some people do, especially us PDA users), the content is last. To be a truly useful theme, the main content should be first in the source, followed by the sidebars.
Nice work. I’ve added it to the Codex list.
Honestly never thought about it, new to wordpress. Will look at the template and may attempt the fix you discussed.
It’s not a WP specific thing – 3 column layouts with semantic source ordering (as it’s called) is a bugger-hard thing to do. Fortunately, there are a few places I’ve seen that show exactly how to do it – all the hacks needed for different browsers, all the caveats related to it’s use, etc.
The benefit is, natch, backwards compatibility – or “graceful degradation”. Old browsers should see the content before the sidebar menus 🙂
I am just having a look at the Rin code with Khaleds permission with a view to doing a 3 col version. Shouldnt be too big a deal.
Shadow and macmanx thanks for adding the theme.
Some updates made, pages allow comments if checked.
Rin Tin Tin Three Column Theme based on Rin.
See work began on Rin and Manji before I read Zeldman’s book. Now I know, and I’m going to have to work around what is there and sort things out.
You’re actually the first person to mention seeing things on a PDA, I’ll have a look into it actually since I have really bought into accessiblity more than I was already sold on the issue before after this book.
