New theme, no image thumbnail with post

    Hello,

    I’ve just moved my blog from wp.com to wp.org and installed a couple of new themes to try them out, that would allow me to show a featured (thumbnail) image with every post (These are magazine style themes, where you only read the beginning of each post first, and then have to click on “read more” to access the complete post).

    However, after moving to wp.org, I’m not able to make the pics show with any of the themes I’ve tried that are supposed to allow for this option.

    On my old blog at wp.com, there was an option for a featured image to be selected at the time of posting, and once it was selected it would show as a thumbnail with the post on the front page.

    Do I need an extra plugin in order to achieve this?

    Please help. I need to make the blog available soon and this option is crucial for its success.

    On my old blog at wp.com, there was an option for a featured image to be selected at the time of posting,

    same for wp.org – it is usually on the right hand side of the ‘edit post’ page in the dashboard, a bit lower down.

    Have you tried setting a featured image for each post via the Edit Post/Add New Post page?

    Thanks for the prompt reply. However, it is not there. I looked everywhere on the ‘edit post’ page. And all these themes I’ve tried are supposed to support this option.

    Have you tried the Twenty Ten theme? That does support featured images.

    Twenty ten shows the featured image ok. However, it is not in the magazine format.

    I’m starting to think it might be something with the themes I chose.

    It almost certainly is a theme issue. You need to look for themes that support post_thumbnail.

    esmi, sorry for posting the same theme to another topic, however I’m desperate and need to meet a deadline.

    I’ve tried reinstalling wordpress three times on to bluehost. Even the people at bluehost say that this is not anything related to their hosting service, and they canno help me.

    So, I’m really lost. :{

    If the featured images work with the Twenty Ten theme, then it’s a theme issue.

    But I have tried at least 15 themes that support featured images, and none worked.

    After looking again at Twenty Ten, it gives me the option for the featured image (none of the other do), but does not display the thumb when I post.

    A link to a page with featured images on your site using the Twenty Ten theme?

    Here is the link to the site I’m having problems with: http://66.147.244.209/~ovnihoje/

    The first post has a featured image that doesn’t show. There are some posts belos that show the images that I “pasted” on the body of the post.

    Download ZenLite. It’s not a magazine theme but it does how featured images on the front (main posts) page – so it can confirm whether featured images work on your site.

    Interesting… it works with this theme, as you can see by accessing the same link as above.

    How can so many themes be defective. Aside from ZenLite, every single one I’ve tried doesn’t work.
