• I created a new Theme for WordPress 2.0 called Musil. Musil is currently in beta but stable. Musil is called beta, because it does not have all the features it should have when it’s ready. You can see it on http://leflo.de and get advanced information and the download link under http://leflo.de/2006/02/15/new-theme-musil/.

    Musil has following features:

    * Content Negotiation (i.e. multi language ready). Currently supported are English and German, but one can simply translate it using gettext

    * Easily extendable theme framework

    * Easy to understand and easy to customise

    * Optimised directory structure

    * Plugin-like functions (alphabetically ordered taglist in single post view, etc.)

    * The perfect 404 (from A List Apart) made in PHP

It would be nice to get a bit feedback. Thanks.

Musil 0.98 is out, featuring schemes. That makes it much easier to use Musil as a framework for a new theme.

Get it here :The Musil Theme

Very nice, simple, easy to read/navigate theme.
I love the K2 theme, but I will switch when I’m sure all the bugs are out. :>)

It’s not about bugs, it’s about completness, I don’t feel, that The Musil Theme is what it should be.

i just decided to use this great theme…really cool btw…
but anyways, since uploading onto my server it does not display the ‘comments’ section on the main blogging page…
it displays fine on the ‘about’ tab but just never when clicking a specific post.
therefore not allowing anyone to reply to any posts i make…

when clicking a specific post, i get a blank white box on the left half, and this error on the right half———

Fatal error: Unknown function: related_posts() in /home/u1/loonitic/html/blog/wp-content/themes/Musil/include/blocks/post_related.php on line 3

any thoughts? anyone else have this problem…
    thanks,

ohh, sorry. I forgot to mention, that there is a plugin requirement: Related Posts, you can downlad it here: http://www.w-a-s-a-b-i.com/archives/2006/02/02/wordpress-related-entries-20/

I will remove that dependency on the next version.

    oh cool…
    thanks.
when can we expect the new version? just being curious πŸ™‚

    just now. πŸ™‚

    oh snap…
sorry im at work now so i cant compare which one i have to the new one on ur site…
is 0.98.5 the new one you just put up since my first post?
if so, you are a quick dude and i thank you!

how do i get the post i make to stop showing up twice above the grey navigation bar??…ill make a post and it will show up on the left, but then again on the right hand side as well (full length of the post) and it contourts my blog stupidly.
    is that normal?
i would rather not have my post show at all on the right side of the blog, and keep my search slot in tact at the top…
i notice yours are in perfect little boxes with a ‘more’ option…
is there another plugin i need for that?
i hope to atleast have that done, or to disable the showing of recent posts on the right totally.

Ok, if the category .sidenote does not exist, all posts are shown in the sidebar, just add the category and it will work fine. Same goes for .feature. see the README or here http://wordpress.org/support/topic/61605?replies=25#post-332502 for a more detailed desciption for .sidenote and .feature.

That thing with the more link works by just adding ‘<!–more–>’ to the post (i.e. click on more above the edit field) or by adding an excerpt.

Btw: You can see which version you use in your backend under presentation. (and I am quick. πŸ™‚

sorry, but that makes no sense to me…
so basically if i post a new post, i have to go back and change the title of the one that was just on the main page to .sidenote???
i read the entire “READ ME” file and am no better off in understanding this.
what do u mean add .sidenote & .feature? where do i add those at? at the end of a file? actually create them as a legit catagory in admin? im totally lost.
i would prefer to not have anything show in the side bar except the search option and the catagory list…
can you guide me a tad more generically…obviously im new to the whole blog arena lol…
    apologize for my dumbness πŸ™

You can assign posts to categories in the post mode, just try it:

Edit or add a new post and add the category .sidenote (you can do that in a box on the right side) to the post.

so then everytime i make a new post i have to go back and change the older posts catagory from feature to sidenote?

    ok i see now…
so the things are gone from my sidebar now so thanks for that…
now that i have added these tho,
if i make a new post, will it automatically replace the old feature? or do i have to go back and edit older pages.
and also, how do i get the things in the sidenote (if i choose to use it) to only display the small box of info with the ‘more’ option, instead of the entire post?

    (@leflo)

If you want a post to appear on the frontpage as the featured (primary) post assing it to the category .feature (the latest feature will be displayed on the frontpage, you don’t have to edit old posts). If you want it to appear in the sidebar assing it to the category .sidenote. (You can do this when you are adding a new post, you don’t have to go back every time.)

As I said: There is a button called “more” on wp-admin/post.php. Place the cursor where you want the more link to appear and press the button or use the excerpt further down.

Just play a bit with WordPress and watch it working, I think blogging is best learned by doing it.
