    You might try these:

    – double check your hosts file
    – try a new browser and clear cache
    – try from another computer
    – try to disable all plugins
    – open an editor like notepad++ and do a global search on the PHP code for the URL that it is directing at.

I’m having exactly the same problem, I’ve tried everything, it’s driving me mad. All the steps completed but I cannot save permalinks as it redirects me to the old sites wp-admin

When I try to login to my new sites wp-admin it still redirects me. I can’t find the old sites url anywhere. I tried all the suggested steps and even created a htacess file but that did not work. Please help.

i gave up…i deleted everything…a friend will now help me and do it without any plugin…it was so strange…i could not find the reason…

That is odd, 99% of the time the suggestions in the FAQ get people through the issue, If either of you want to submit a help ticket next time I can take a look at your package. It could very likely not even be plugin related but something related to DNS or there about…

Does the plugin rewrite the htaccess file?

What if there was no file to rewrite, could that cause an issue?

Any files we should look in for the mention of the redirecting domain? I looked in config.php and htaccess

Also should the plugin copy over all of the theme settings inc things like deleted and added widgets etc?

Could it be something to do with yoast seo? the htaccess file is created through there for my sites so does the plugin rewrite the htaccess file if it is created with yoast?

    Hey Traineradd,

The plugin will backup your original .htaccess file and generate a new one. As far as the settings everything should be copied over unless you create a file or database filter on one of the tables. Any plugin that edits the .htaccess file can cause issues. On the second step of the installer under advanced options you can automatically disable all of the plugins. Sometimes this helps to narrow down where the issue might be…

    Hope that helps!

    I had the same problem.
I did not update the links in options and post guid. So whenever a page is opened it automatically reads the old guidand redirects to the old site.
So here is a great post on what must be done :

    Hello,

I just ran into the same problem and found out that the wp-config.php file on the new install had not been updated. The new website was connecting to the old database, that’s why it kept redirecting to the old url.

I must say I’ve been using the plugin for some time now and am very happy with it (even have a pro license), it is the first time I’ve seen this issue.

I’m happy to provide the archive files if the plugin’s author would like to investigate.

    Best regards,
    Kasutan
